In addition to trying to teach himself Spanish, he developed a new style of penmanship. In 1914, Henry and Clara Ford, along with their son Edsel, visited Fort Myers at the invitation of Thomas Edison. They enjoyed the visit so much that two years later, Ford purchased the home adjacent to the Edison Winter Estate. The two-story riverfront home was built in the Craftsman architectural style.

Moving through Salt Lake City’s buzzy downtown area—past the bustling restaurants, lively clubs and lofty living spaces—you’d be forgiven for not immediately noticing a new addition to the neighborhood. Recently built along 200 West and just a block east of Pioneer Park, is a modern, black steel-and-brick building designed with expansive windows overlooking its urban setting. Instead, a polished metal E on the entry wall discreetly identifies the three-story structure as Edison House, the city’s newest social club created by brothers and Salt Lake natives Charlie Cardon and George Cardon-Bystry. The duo tapped HKS to design the structure and Okland Construction to build it. Whenever you turn on a light, listen to recorded music, or watch a motion picture you are enjoying one of the discoveries of Thomas Alva Edison.

Soon he decided to become a real telegraph operator, and with the help of one of the station masters, he learned this skill. He became a telegrapher at the age of 15 and began working for Western Union in such places as Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Memphis. In 1866, at the age of 19, Thomas Edison came to Louisville as an employee of Western Union whose office was then located at the Southwest corner of Main and Second Street. After a brief excursion to New Orleans in August 1866, he returned to work in Louisville. The Thomas Edison House is located in historic Butchertown Kentucky, a neighborhood which has been known as the center of meat production in this city for over 200 years.

These include supporting the First Ascent Scholarship Program which helps fund aspiring entrepreneurs’ education.

The Edison House is a new building specifically designed for its variety of social spaces built by Okland Construction, designed by HKS Architects, and interiors by Avenue Interior Design. Edison House is aiming to complement Salt Lake’s city life as a new social club. Our clubhouse, experiences, and community are accessible only to our members and their guests.

In fact, it's difficult to go through a single day without using one of his many important discoveries. Having received 1093 patents in his lifetime, Edison helped us communicate better through his improvements to the telegraph and telephone. He lit our houses with electricity by designing and building the first indoor electric lighting system. Edison House is a social club, reimagined for those looking to energize and elevate their day-to-day experience.

In a 1928 remodel, the Pool House with changing rooms and a shower, and Tea House were added. Edison had a concrete cistern built in order to provide large amounts of potable water for domestic use in 1919. The new cistern was designed to store rainwater captured from the roof tops of Seminole Lodge.
